The origin of Christmas is found in the Pagan celebration of the northern winter solstice that signified the beginning of the end of the cold, dark winter. Seeking to build on these nature-themed beginnings, instead of Christmas, Vita celebrates Vitmas. Vitmas is an ecologically sustainable version of Christmas without the Christian themes. Rather than Santa, Vitmas features Vitanta. Vitanata wears green and white and can be male, female or whomever. Vitanta can also be an animal that has grown a green and white plumage or coat for the festive season. Through Vitanta animals we learn from wildlife about the Living Planet. Vitmas allows Vitans to enjoy the festive season in a manner that honours Gya and helps advance the Verdant Age. |
Vitanta Dugong: "Hey-up! Dang water's getting a bit warm. What's that all about? Here we are going about our business hoovering up the seagrass, and next thing you know we're all breaking into a sweat. What I heard is its you humans bunging all that CO2 gas into the atmosphere. Well how about you just don't. We're over here doing our job for Gya, pursuing our interests in a manner that contributes to the proper function of the biosphere. And you lot! Not sure where you are getting your cues from, but it sure ain't Gya, the Living Planet." |
Vitanta Rockhopper Penguin: "I say, hoomans. Would you kindly desist from anthropogenic carbon emissions. The CO2 is fostering carbonic acid in the ocean which is interfering with plankton growth. I am rather partial to plankton and the things that eat them, you see, as I have a seafood diet. Oh, and while you are at it, maybe you could drawdown a trillion tons of atmospheric CO2 to drop the temperatures back to where they should be. I hear that you have process called Ocean Pasture Restoration using trace amounts of iron to foster phytoplankton blooms. That would do very nicely. Thank you." |
Vitanta Kangaroo "G'day hoomans. How ya going? Me, I'm doing alright, I guess. Though I am a bit worried about all this nonsense about nuclear power. Seriously, guys, let that idea go the way of the megafauna. If you want cheap, clean energy, just keep going with the wind and solar and storage. But you have to put it in the right place so it doesn't interfere with me and my pals. We live here too, you know. And keep working on your technology. It all needs to be fully recyclable and non-toxic. We can't be having huge slabs of fibreglass sent to landfill when the wind turbine blades need replacing." |
